About Me

Hi, I'm Glenyse.

I'm a horticulturist, nature lover, permie, artist, crafter, wife, mum, and grandmother to five gorgeous little humans.

In my professional life, I'm an early childhood educational leader and mentor, supporting educators to create meaningful learning experiences and stronger connections with children, families, and their communities.

But long before any job title, I've always been drawn to nature.

Some of my earliest inspirations came from my mum and grandmothers, who were all gardeners. As a young adult, I found myself constantly gravitating towards growing things, making things, learning about nature and spending time outdoors.

My journey into organic food growing began while working in early childhood education, where I wanted children to experience the wonder of growing food and caring for the natural world. Years later, moving to a 25-acre property opened the door to a deeper exploration of permaculture, regenerative living, and creating a life more connected to the seasons. It also sparked an interest in biodynamics and astrology—practices that encourage us to slow down, observe patterns, and work with nature rather than against it.

Today, Silky Oaks Farm and Studio is where all those passions come together.

It's a place where I grow food, flowers, herbs, and ideas. A place where I share practical skills, creativity, and the belief that sustainable living doesn't have to be perfect. Through workshops, garden mentoring, and community connections, I love helping people take simple, achievable steps towards growing their own food, reducing waste, being creative, and embracing a slower, more intentional way of life.

Nothing makes my heart sing more than seeing someone discover the joy of harvesting their first homegrown tomato, creating something with their own hands, or developing a deeper connection with nature. Whether it's a child planting a seed, a gardener finding confidence, or a family creating a more sustainable home, those moments remind me why I do what I do.

If I had to sum me up in a nutshell, I’d say I am passionate about cultivating growth - in gardens, in people and in communities.

I believe permaculture isn't about perfection—it's about observation, learning, experimenting, and taking the next small step.

I'd love to help you take yours.
